Sure?

So you think you have a brilliant idea that no one else has thought about and the world needs it, right?

But you have a cushy job (so what if its boring) that pays for your EMIs and bills and yes, holidays as well. And now the dilemma are:

What happens if this doesn’t workout?
How will I meet my expenses?
What about comforts of my family?
Will I be able to go back to same boring world, if the idea doesn’t workout?

Well, you are not alone, it’s a classic and real dilemma.

I have gone through it eight years back and god has been kind with me. I have few suggestions for you to prepare yourself to take the plunge and earn your freedom.

You can really have your cake and eat it too. You can simply start being a serious Entrepreneur simultaneously with your present job.

Idea 1:

  • Depending upon your business idea, identify people who are doing justice to it. Start following these leaders. Keep a tab on what are they doing right.

  • Study their business model, identify areas which needs improvement and check their consumer behavior.

  • Find time and actually send a specific input to the business owner with your proposed solution.

  • If you hear from him/her, you are on and you learn BIG.

Idea 2:

  • Start working on yourself asap.

  • Start connecting with relevant people in the domain. Identify and network with these people you admire. Go to their lectures, go to conferences. Spend money and energy on small training. These lessons, training and network will go a long way for you when you need it most.

Idea 3:

  • Doing job is very easy, you have teammates to fall back on, you can afford to fall ill, you can delegate up and down.

  • But life is tough when you are independent you don’t have the infrastructure support around you now.

  • So start working on your health, both physical and mental. Start meditating, believe me any successful business owner is extremely strong with emotions. Identify a mentor or coach Even a Sachin or a Virat needs one.

Idea 4:

  • Sign up with any NGO, work on weekends for a cause. Go out and get sponsorship / funds for these NGOs, go all out.

  • You have to learn how easy(or difficult) it is to Sell and get money from the world.

  • I recommend it very strongly.

Idea 5:

  • You can get many online/offline assignments and projects that you can do legally over weekends. Their are forums like Freelancer.com, Up-work, Urban clap etc.

  • This will teach you how to “work for yourself” without any support and infrastructure support. Expand your horizons, interact with new customers.

  • Get disciplined and actually do it.

All this will help you in testing waters with one leg and not both.
